The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is a trilateral trade agreement between Canada, the United States, and Mexico. It was signed in 1992 and came into effect in 1994. The treaty eliminated most tariffs on goods traded between the three countries and created a framework for cooperation on economic, environmental, and labor issues. NAFTA has been credited with increasing trade between the three countries and creating jobs in all three countries.
