Camp David Accords were a series of agreements signed between Israel and Egypt in 1978. The accords were negotiated at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland, and were signed by Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. The agreements established peace between the two countries and led to the 1979 Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty. The Camp David Accords also provided for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Sinai Peninsula and the establishment of a framework for future negotiations on Palestinian autonomy.
