California Indian is a term used to refer to the indigenous people of California. The Washo, Pomo, and Maidu are three of the many tribes that make up the California Indian population. The Washo are a Native American tribe that traditionally lived in the eastern Sierra Nevada and the Lake Tahoe Basin of California and Nevada. The Pomo are a group of Native Americans who traditionally lived in Northern California's coastal and inland regions. The Maidu are a Native American people of northern California.
