Bygone Despot is a term used to refer to a former ruler who had absolute power and was often oppressive. CZAR, TSAR, AMIN, Idi, SHAH, Nero, and SATRAP are all examples of bygone despots. CZAR and TSAR were titles used by rulers of Russia, AMIN was the dictator of Uganda from 1971-1979, Idi was the dictator of Uganda from 1971-1979, SHAH was the title of the former rulers of Iran, Nero was the Roman Emperor from 54-68 AD, and SATRAP was the title of the governors of the Persian Empire.
