Ernie Bushmiller was an American cartoonist best known for his comic strip Nancy, which ran from 1938 to his death in 1982. He also created the comic strip Sluggo, which ran from 1940 to 1984. His other works included the comic strip Ernie Pyle, which ran from 1945 to 1959, and the comic strip Edie, which ran from 1951 to 1954. Bushmiller also wrote and drew for the comic strip Els Kovacs from 1956 to 1962, and the comic strip ELF from 1962 to 1965.
