Rio de Janeiro is the informal name of the Brazilian Carnival City. It is the second most populous city in Brazil and the sixth most populous in the Americas. Rio de Janeiro is known for its natural settings, Carnival, samba, bossa nova, and balneario beaches such as Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon. The city is also home to numerous monuments, parks, and museums, including the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue atop Corcovado mountain.
