The Boy Scouts of America was founded by Lord BADEN-Powell in 1910. He was a British Army Officer who had served in the Boer War and was inspired to create an organization for boys that would teach them outdoor skills, self-reliance, and good citizenship. The organization was originally called the TENDERFOOT Scouts, and the first TROOP was formed in England in 1907. The name was later changed to Boy Scouts, and the organization spread to the United States in 1910.
