Bob Hope, for one, was an iconic American entertainer and comedian. He was known for his vaudeville-style performances, his quick wit, and his many appearances in films, television, and radio. He was also a philanthropist, having founded the Bob Hope Classic golf tournament to benefit the USO. His career spanned over seven decades, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1998.
