Bluesman Willie Dixon was a prolific songwriter and musician from Vicksburg, Mississippi. He wrote over 500 songs, many of which have become blues standards. He was also an influential record producer and arranger. Alan Lomax was an American folklorist, ethnomusicologist, and musicologist who documented the musical heritage of the United States and other countries. He recorded thousands of songs, including many by Willie Dixon. Lomax was instrumental in bringing Dixon's music to a wider audience.
