Otis Redding was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who is widely considered one of the greatest singers in the history of American popular music. He is best known for his work in the R&B and soul genres, particularly his hit single 'RESPECT'. He was also a major influence on the development of funk music. Redding was born in Dawson, Georgia, and began his career as a gospel singer before transitioning to secular music. He achieved fame in the early 1960s with his recordings of 'These Arms of Mine' and 'Try a Little Tenderness'. He died in a plane crash in 1967 at the age of 26.
