Blue Peter is a British children's television show that has been running since 1958. The term 'Blue Peter' is also used to refer to a FLAG flown by ships to indicate that they are ready to sail. The FLAG is blue with a white square in the middle, containing a blue St. Peter's Cross. This FLAG is used to signal that the ship is ready to leave port and is a sign of respect for the patron saint of sailors, St. Peter.
