An epee is a type of bladed weapon that is a light fencing sword with a triangular cross-section and a large bell guard. A shiv is a bladed weapon that is a homemade knife or sharpened object, usually made out of readily available materials such as a razor blade or a piece of broken glass. Swords are the most iconic bladed weapons, consisting of a long blade with a hilt and a crossguard.
