A Lipoma is a benign fatty tumour, which is a non-cancerous growth of fat cells. It is usually found just below the skin and is typically soft and movable. Lipomas are usually painless and can range in size from very small to several inches in diameter. They are most commonly found on the neck, shoulders, back, abdomen, arms, and thighs. Treatment is not usually necessary, but if the lipoma is causing discomfort or is growing rapidly, it can be surgically removed.
