The Belmont Stakes and the Preakness Stakes are two of the three races that make up the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing in the United States. The Belmont Stakes is the oldest of the three races, having been first run in 1867, while the Preakness Stakes was first run in 1873. Both races are held annually at different racetracks, with the Belmont Stakes taking place at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York and the Preakness Stakes taking place at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.
