Belinda Carlisle is an American singer and songwriter who rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the all-female band The Go-Go's. She has since gone on to have a successful solo career, releasing eight studio albums and achieving several top 10 hits. Her most successful single was 'Heaven Is a Place on Earth', which reached number one in the US and the UK. The Go-Go's were formed in 1978 and their debut album, Beauty and the Beat, was released in 1981. The band achieved success with their singles 'We Got the Beat' and 'VACATION'.
