The Belgian language is composed of two main dialects, Flemish and French. Flemish is the Dutch-based language spoken in the northern part of Belgium, while French is the Romance language spoken in the southern part. Flemish is the official language of the Flemish Community in Belgium and is also spoken in parts of the Netherlands and France. It is also one of the three official languages of the European Union.
