The Belgian Battle Site of WATERLOO was a decisive battle in the Napoleonic Wars, fought on June 18th, 1815. The battle was between the French Empire, led by Napoleon Bonaparte, and the Seventh Coalition, led by the Duke of Wellington. The battle resulted in a victory for the coalition forces, and the defeat of Napoleon. The other Belgian Battle Site is Ypres, which was the site of three major battles during World War I. The first battle of Ypres, fought in October and November of 1914, was a major victory for the Allies. The second and third battles of Ypres, fought in April and May of 1915 and July to November of 1917 respectively, were both costly defeats for the Allies.
