John Olerud is a former Major League Baseball first baseman and designated hitter who won the American League batting title in 1993. He played for the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, and Boston Red Sox during his 17-year career. Olerud was known for his plate discipline and ability to hit for both average and power. He was a three-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove Award winner.
