Stuart Sutcliffe, commonly known as Stu Sutcliffe, was a bassist for the Beatles in the early 1960s. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and attended the Liverpool College of Art. Sutcliffe was an important part of the band's early success, playing bass on their first single 'Love Me Do' and appearing in their first film, A Hard Day's Night. Unfortunately, he left the band in 1961 due to health issues and died in 1962 at the age of 21. Sutcliffe is remembered as an important figure in the history of the Beatles and his influence can still be heard in their music today.
