A basilica section is a part of a church building that has a specific purpose. The APSE is a semicircular recess in the wall of a church, usually at the east end, which contains the altar. The BEMA is a raised platform in the center of a church, often used for the reading of the gospel and other liturgical ceremonies. The NAVE is the central part of a church, extending from the entrance to the chancel or sanctuary.
