Lou Gehrig was a professional baseball player who played for the New York Yankees from 1923 to 1939. He was nicknamed 'The Iron Horse' for his durability and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939. He is best known for his consecutive games streak of 2, 130, which stood as a record until it was broken by Cal Ripken Jr. in 1995. Gehrig was also a two-time MVP and six-time World Series champion.
