Baseball ploy is a term used to describe the various strategies employed by baseball teams in order to gain an advantage over their opponents. The most common of these strategies are pitchout, BUNT, STEAL, and suicide squeeze. A pitchout is when a pitcher throws a ball outside the strike zone in order to disrupt the batter's timing. A BUNT is when a batter intentionally taps the ball with the bat in order to move it a short distance. A STEAL is when a runner attempts to advance to the next base without the ball being hit. Finally, a suicide squeeze is when a runner on third base attempts to score by running home as soon as the pitcher releases the ball.
