Ian Bannen was a Scottish actor who had a long and successful career in film and television. He was best known for his roles in films such as The Flight of the Phoenix, Braveheart, and Waking Ned Devine. He also starred in the television series Danger UXB and The Professionals. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 1975 film The Flight of the Phoenix. He passed away in 1999 at the age of 71.
