Anne Bancroft was an American actress, director, and screenwriter. She is best known for her Academy Award-winning performance in The Miracle Worker (1962) and her role as Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate (1967). She was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards, winning one, and was nominated for three Academy Awards, winning one. She was also the recipient of several lifetime achievement awards. Bancroft was active in film, television, and stage from the 1950s until her death in 2005.
