An automatic pistol, also known as a self-loading pistol, is a type of handgun that uses the energy of the fired cartridge to cycle the action of the firearm and advance the next available cartridge into position for firing. The LUGER is a famous example of an automatic pistol, developed in 1898 by German arms manufacturer Georg LUGER. It was used extensively by the German military during World War I and World War II.
