Arthur Hentoff was an American journalist, author, and music critic. He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1925 and was best known for his work as a jazz critic for The Village Voice. He was also a columnist for Down Beat magazine and wrote for many other publications. He was the recipient of numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement in journalism. NAT is an acronym for his full name, Nathan Arthur Hentoff.
