Edith Wharton was an American novelist, short story writer, and designer. She wrote over 40 books, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Age of Innocence. She was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1921. Her other works include Ethan Frome, The House of Mirth, and Summer. She was also a prolific interior designer, creating designs for her own homes as well as for her friends.
