Author Pierce Egan was an English journalist, playwright, and author who lived from 1772 to 1849. He is best known for his works of sports journalism, particularly his boxing coverage, and for his novel Life in London. He also wrote a number of plays and other works of fiction. His most famous work is the novel Boxiana, which was published in nine volumes between 1818 and 1821. He is remembered as one of the most influential writers of the early 19th century.
