Ian McEwan is an English novelist, playwright, and screenwriter. He is best known for his novels such as Atonement, Saturday, and Amsterdam, which have earned him international recognition and numerous awards. McEwan has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize twice and won the award in 1998 for his novel Amsterdam. He has also been awarded the Jerusalem Prize and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize.
