Alexandre Dumas, fils was a French author and playwright who was the son of the famous author Alexandre Dumas, père. He is best known for his romantic dramas, such as La Dame aux Camelias, which was adapted into the popular opera La Traviata. He was also a successful novelist, writing works such as Le Chevalier de Maison-Rouge and Le Demi-Monde. His plays were often performed in Paris and he was highly regarded by his contemporaries.
