The term AUSTEN NOVEL refers to two novels written by the English author Jane Austen. The first is Emma, a novel published in 1815 which follows the story of a young woman who meddles in the love lives of her friends and family. The second is Northanger Abbey, a novel published in 1817 which follows the story of a young woman who is exposed to the world of Gothic fiction. Both novels are considered classics of English literature.
