Jim Thorpe was an American athlete who won two gold medals in the 1912 Olympics and is widely considered one of the greatest athletes of all time. He was a multi-sport athlete, playing professional football, baseball, and basketball, as well as competing in track and field events. Thorpe was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951. He was also named the 'Greatest Athlete of the 20th Century' by the Associated Press in 1950.
