Athena's Shield is a term that refers to two different objects in Greek mythology. The first is the AEGIS, a shield made of goatskin and adorned with the head of the Gorgon Medusa. It was given to Athena by Zeus and was said to be impenetrable. The second is the EGIS, a shield made of bronze and decorated with the head of the Gorgon Medusa. It was given to Athena by her father, Poseidon, and was said to be indestructible. Both shields were symbols of protection and power, and were used by Athena in battle.
