Astronaut Wally Schirra was an American astronaut who flew on three space missions, including the first two-man Gemini mission and the Apollo 7 mission. He was one of the original seven Mercury astronauts and was the only astronaut to fly in all three of the early space programs. Schirra was also a test pilot and a naval aviator. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross six times and the NASA Distinguished Service Medal.
