Eileen Collins is an American retired astronaut and a retired United States Air Force colonel. She was the first female pilot and first female commander of a Space Shuttle. She flew on four Space Shuttle missions, including the first mission with a female pilot and the first mission to dock with the Russian space station Mir. She was also the first astronaut to log over 1, 000 hours in space. Collins was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 2009.
