Mary Astor was an American actress who was active in the early 20th century. She is best known for her role as Brigid O'Shaughnessy in the 1941 film The Maltese Falcon. She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1932 film The Great Lie. Astor also appeared in numerous other films, including Little Women, Dodsworth, and Meet Me in St. Louis. She was a popular leading lady in the 1930s and 1940s and was one of the most successful actresses of her time.
