Fred Astaire was an American dancer, singer, actor, and choreographer. He was best known for his performances in numerous musical films, including Top Hat (1935) with Ginger ROGERS, Shall We Dance (1937) with ADELE Astaire, and The Band Wagon (1953) with Cyd Charisse. He was also known for his TAP dancing skills, which he showcased in many of his films. Astaire's dance partner, ADELE Astaire, was his elder sister and a successful Broadway performer. She was also a talented dancer and choreographer. Together, they starred in several Broadway shows and toured the United States and Europe. Astaire was also known for his use of a CANE as a prop in his dance routines.
