Jasper JOHNS is an American artist who is best known for his work in the mid-20th century. He is associated with the Pop Art movement and is renowned for his paintings, sculptures, and prints. His works often feature familiar objects such as flags, maps, and numbers. JOHNS was born in Augusta, Georgia in 1930 and studied at the University of South Carolina before moving to New York City in the 1950s. He has been awarded numerous awards and honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.
