Aquilegia, also known as COLUMBINE, is a genus of about 60-70 species of perennial plants that are found in meadows, woodlands, and at higher altitudes throughout the Northern Hemisphere. The flowers of Aquilegia have spurred petals and come in a variety of colors including white, yellow, pink, purple, and blue. The name Aquilegia comes from the Latin word for eagle, referring to the shape of the flower's petals.
