Adonis's Slayer is the four-letter answer to a crossword puzzle clue. It refers to the mythological figure of Erymanthian BOAR, which was killed by the hero Heracles as part of his Twelve Labors. The BOAR was sent by the goddess Artemis to ravage the countryside of Calydon in Aetolia, and it was only after Heracles killed it that Adonis, the beautiful youth beloved by Aphrodite, was able to be freed from its jaws.
