Stan Laurel was an actor, comedian, and filmmaker who is best known for his work in the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy. He was born Arthur Stanley Jefferson in Ulverston, England in 1890 and began his career in music hall and theatre. He moved to the United States in 1910 and began working in silent films. He met Oliver Hardy in 1927 and the two formed a successful comedic partnership that lasted until the 1950s. Stan Laurel was one of the most influential figures in the history of film comedy and was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.
