Actor Donald CRISP was an English-born American actor, film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was a major figure in the development of film direction in Hollywood during the silent and sound eras. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in How Green Was My Valley (1941). He was also nominated for Best Director for the same film. He was known for his roles in films such as The Birth of a Nation (1915), The Little American (1917), and The Big Parade (1925). He was also a prolific writer, having written over 50 screenplays.
