An acrobatic athlete is someone who performs gymnastics, stunts, and axels. Gymnasts are athletes who perform physical exercises on apparatus such as the balance beam, uneven bars, and floor. Stunts involve performing dangerous or difficult feats, often involving a high degree of physical risk. Axels are a type of jump in figure skating where the skater takes off from a forward outside edge and rotates 1½ times in the air before landing on a backward outside edge on the same foot. Acrobatic athletes combine these three disciplines to create an impressive and entertaining performance.
