The abdominal muscles are a group of muscles located in the abdomen that are responsible for providing stability and movement to the trunk of the body. The two main muscles of the abdominal region are the obliques and the abs. The obliques are two pairs of muscles located on either side of the abdomen that help with rotation and lateral flexion of the trunk. The abs, or rectus abdominis, are a pair of long, flat muscles located in the front of the abdomen that help with flexing the spine.
