A VENT is a small slit or opening in a wall, door, or other surface that allows air to pass through. A placket is a small slit or opening in a garment, usually at the neck or sleeve, that allows for buttons or other fasteners to be attached. A SERAPE is a long, brightly colored blanket-like shawl with a slit in the middle that is worn over the shoulders and around the waist. All three of these terms refer to a small slit or opening.
