A glancing rebound, also known as a RICOCHET, is a phenomenon in which an object rebounds off a surface at an angle. It is commonly seen in sports such as basketball and tennis, where the ball bounces off the court or wall at an angle. Ricochets can also occur in other situations, such as when a bullet strikes a hard surface. In all cases, the object rebounds off the surface at an angle, rather than bouncing straight back.
