Youth (myth.) is a term often used to refer to the period of life between childhood and adulthood. In mythology, two figures associated with youth are ADONIS and Etana. ADONIS was a handsome young man in Greek mythology who was loved by both Aphrodite and Persephone. He was killed in a hunting accident and later resurrected. Etana was a Sumerian king who was said to have been taken up to heaven by an eagle in order to obtain a plant of immortality for his son. Both ADONIS and Etana represent the idea of youth and its fleeting nature.
