The actor Yaphet Kotto is best known for his roles in the films Alien, Midnight Run, and The Running Man. He also had a successful career on television, appearing in shows such as Homicide: Life on the Street and The Jeffersons. Kotto was born in New York City in 1937 and began his acting career in the 1960s. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his performance in the 1977 film Raid on Entebbe.
