Wrong-word indicator, also known as a 'SIC', is a three-letter Latin term used in writing to indicate that a word or phrase has been used exactly as it appears in the original source, even if it is incorrect or otherwise inappropriate. It is used to show that the writer is aware of the mistake and is not responsible for it. The term is often used in academic writing to show that the writer is quoting from a source accurately.
