He is most noted for his novels Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which has been called 'the Great American Novel', and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Twain was a friend to presidents, artists, industrialists, and European royalty. He was lauded as the 'greatest humorist this country has produced, ' and William Faulkner called him 'the father of American literature'.
